Generic Adalat (Nifedipine 30 mg) guide:
Generic Adalat (Nifedipine) is a medication used for hypertension management. The drug relieves tension from the heart and contributes to better myocardium supply with oxygen through dilation of coronary arteries and peripheral blood vessels.
Generic Adalat (Nifedipine) is primarily prescribed for people with arterial hypertension, but can be also used for stable angina (stress angina); angiospastic angina; prevention of migraine attacks; renal, cholelithiasis, intestinal colic and other conditions which require strong antispasmodic effect, Raynaud’s syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, and obstructive lung disease.
What is the mechanism of action of Generic Adalat (Nifedipine)?
The medication blocks calcium channels and inhibits the flow of calcium ions through the membrane of cardiomyocytes and smooth muscles that line blood vessels. This leads to the lowered accumulation of calcium within the cells and reduces overall peripheral vascular resistance. This leads to the lowered load of the heart and increased supply of oxygen to the myocardium.
The inhibition of income and accumulation of calcium ions in cardiomyocytes (cardiac muscle cells) prevents the depletion of the energy reserves of the myocardium and provides a protective effect on the cardiac muscle.
Generic Adalat (Nifedipine) also lowers blood pressure and pains in the chest associated with myocardial hypoxia; it also improves the post-stenotic coronary blood flow in atherosclerosis.
The release of the active substance from the pills is quite slow which means that the effect of the drug is maintained within 24 hours after the pill intake.
The maximum stable effect of blood pressure lowering in achieved after 3-4 days of intake. The chest pains usually are lowered within 3-4 weeks after the start of the therapy with the drug.
In the beginning of the therapy, the heart rate and cardiac output can be lowered due to the activation of baroreceptors (sensors located in the blood vessels) but in the long-term therapy, they return to the values present before the start of the therapy.
How to use the drug Generic Adalat (Nifedipine)?
Before you buy Generic Adalat (Nifedipine), you should get a proper diagnosis to be sure that the medication is what you really need and that it is not contraindicated for you. Before the treatment start, your doctor should inform you about the desirable (normal) blood pressure and heart rate for you during the therapy with Nifedipine-based medications. If after the first drug intake you experience pain or chest tightness, then you need to consult your doctor before taking the next dosage. If during the therapy you have frequent, potent and lasting chest pains both at rest and exercising, you should also inform your doctor.
The dosage is chosen individually for various conditions and their severity but in general, the therapy is started with 40 mg (one pill) taken once a day. If the dosage is ineffective, it can be gradually increased to 80 mg a day taken into two intakes.
